A fine art painter and also illustrator of magazines including Cosmopolitan, Collier’s and Saturday Evening Post,  Clarence McCarthy (1887-1953) lived in Woodstock, New York.  He studied at the Art Students League in New York with Robert Henri and Luis Mora.  Memberships included the Society of Illustrators and Woodstock Art Association.
