Oil Portrait of a young (and high-ranking) Medical Officer 1949

Regular price $450.00

We read, on the bottom left of the painting: "Okinawa Asimine 1949" (or "Asimire"). The insignia on his collar proclaim him to be a major general in the Medical Corps which goes some way to explaining his apparent youth while holding such a high rank. Doctors who joined the war effort were accorded ranks  commensurate with their experience and expertise as specialists in their field. But he could be in his forties. We wish we could tell you more about this intriguing person and the very gifted painter of this penetrating portrait.

Oil on canvas, framed 20 x 24 approx.
