Heywood-Wakefield Heywoodite Promotional Collection: 2 Ashtrays & 1 Paperweight CA2292
Heywoodite, or Hey Woodite as the logo would have it, was a plastic developed by Heywood-Wakefield Co. The ashtrays measure 1" x 4 3/8" x 4 3/8" and the paperweight is 1/2" thick and 4" in diameter. The three colors featured are pretty dreamy. Dense and heavier than most plastics, Heywoodite was intended for use in the furniture the company made and these objects were to excite interest in their future products. Heywoodite can still be found in their surviving colorful school furniture, still looking brand spanking new.
The Heywood-Wakefield Company is an American furniture manufacturer established in 1897. It went on to become a major presence in the US. Its older products are considered collectibles and have been featured on Antiques Roadshow.
