Cowboy Mantel Clock A3464

Regular price $550.00

This striking figural mantel clock dates to circa 1940 and features a dramatic sculptural scene of a rearing horse with rider, captured mid-motion atop a rocky base. The clock is cast in spelter (zinc alloy), a material widely used in the early 20th century for decorative clocks due to its ability to hold fine detail and receive rich bronze-style patination.

The surface is finished in a dark bronze-toned patina with subtle highlights accentuating the musculature of the horse and the dynamic posture of the rider. The rectangular clock face is integrated into the base, maintaining the strong architectural lines associated with late Art Deco design.

Spelter figural clocks of this era were popular decorative objects, bridging sculpture and function, and were often displayed on mantels or desks as bold statement pieces. This example reflects the period’s fascination with movement, strength, and heroic imagery.
