A well-used example of the California Bear Flag. Grizzly walking left over green grass, lone red star at upper left, "CALIFORNIA REPUBLIC" in brown block lettering below. Brass grommets on the hoist.
The field has aged to a warm ivory. Brown toning and scattered staining across the surface, consistent with outdoor use. No tears, holes, or repairs visible.
The bear's rendering is notably more detailed and naturalistic than the flat, simplified version on modern California flags, a good indicator of mid-century commercial production.
