1960s and 70s San Francisco artist and illustrator and designer of posters, Michel Dattel, painted this dazzler. 

Board measures 18" x 24" and the frame is 24 1/4" x 30 1/2".

Michel Dattel (1936-2013) was an award-winning writer as well as an artist and worked in the advertising field as a design director in San Francisco for many years.

Dattel's work is represented in the Judith Patt Collection at the University of Victoria The collection consists of various prints and posters from the anti-war and anti-government movement of the mid to late 1960s and early 1970s. He was the illustrator for philosopher and Buddhist teacher Alan Watts' book, "Nonsense". Dattel is currently being rediscovered, particularly as the illustrator of classic teachers' guides of the 70s, working in a bold and playful graphic pop style.
