A really jazzy piece by the gifted Jorgen Hansen. Shown at the 79th Annual San Francisco Museum of Art/San Francisco Art Association Painting and Sculpture Exhibition March 24th - April 24th 1960. Oil on board 31 1/2" x 47 1/2", frame 35" x 51"
Jorgen Hansen was born in Chicago, IL on April 26, 1922. Jorgen was the son of noted painter, Ejnar Hansen. He had his first solo show at the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel at age 12. During WWII he was a bombardier. After the war he studied at UC Berkeley, Jepson Art Institute, and USC School of Fine Arts. He further studied in Paris at L'Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and then completed his degree in fine arts at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He then taught at Ventura College, served as educational curator at the Santa Barbara Museum of Arts. For 30 years he taught painting in the Santa Barbara Adult Education program. He died in Santa Barbara, CA on February 24, 2008.
