The Hupa, also known as the Hoopa Valley Tribe, are a Native American tribe in northwestern California, primarily residing along the lower Trinity River. They are part of the Athabaskan language family and call themselves Na:tinixwe, meaning "People of the Place Where the Trails Return". Most Hupa people live on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, which is under their control.
