Eucalyptus Moonlight by DeWitt Parshall, Oil on Board P3508
Regular price
$550.00
A small, electric night scene — eucalyptus trees pushing into a deep blue sky with a full moon breaking through. Loose, expressive brushwork and an almost eerie atmospheric quality. A lot of painting in a small panel.
DeWitt Parshall was an American painter based in Santa Barbara, California, known for his moody landscapes of the California coast and countryside. Trained in New York and Paris, he became closely associated with the California plein air tradition, painting the local eucalyptus groves, moonlit hills, and Pacific light that defined the region's artistic identity in the early 20th century. His night scenes are among his most sought-after works.
