An evocative oil painting capturing a stand of eucalyptus trees rendered in a lively, impressionistic hand, circa 1930s. The artist builds the grove from loose, confident strokes of blue, lavender, and dusty green, with the trees' pale, peeling bark picked out in soft ochre and rose against a hazy sky.
Notably, the reverse of the canvas bears a second, unfinished composition: a dramatic study of a breaking wave in cool blues and greens, boldly brushed and clearly by the same hand.
The painting comes in its original frame, showing gentle wear and a few small chips consistent with age.
