The Cheyenne are also known as the Tsistsistas, meaning "human beings" or "the people" in their language. They are an Algonquian-language-speaking tribe that originally lived in the Great Lakes region before migrating to the Great Plains. The Cheyenne are now comprised of two distinct groups, the Northern and Southern Cheyenne.
