Desertscape by Eugene Dunlap — oil on canvas, showing sandy dunes with wildflowers and desert brush leading back to distant purple mountains. Signed lower right.
Dunlap (1916–1999) was born in Los Angeles and began painting at age eight, studying with Jack W. Smith, J. Mason Reeves, and Nell Walker Warner. He was best known for landscapes and coastal scenes of Southern California, and later settled in Laguna Beach, where he was part of the local art scene until his death in 1999. His desert and mountain views from this period are well regarded among California plein air collectors.
