          Pen and ink on rice paper 12 x 15. An evocation of a vanished Los Angeles.
Born in Michigan on March 24, 1887. Canright settled in Los Angeles in 1928 and worked as a freelance artist. In her leisure she painted still lifes and other subjects. In 1936-38 she exhibited as Bess Canright Doxsee. Late in life, she headed the art department at Whittier College. Unwed, she died of heart failure at Riverside (CA) Hospital on May 1, 1958.
