Grand Canyon by Dewitt Parshall, Oil on Board P3510
Regular price
$550.00
Sunlit canyon wall against a wide open sky — ochre and gold with just enough shadow to give it weight. Loose and confident, painted like a note taken on the spot. Parshall strips the Canyon down to its essentials and it's plenty.
DeWitt Parshall was an American painter based in Santa Barbara, California, known for his moody landscapes of the California coast and countryside. Trained in New York and Paris, he became closely associated with the California plein air tradition, painting the local eucalyptus groves, moonlit hills, and Pacific light that defined the region's artistic identity in the early 20th century. His night scenes are among his most sought-after works.
