A little history
RKO Radio Pictures was one of Hollywood's major studios during the classic studio era. The company emerged from the combination of Radio Corporation of America interests, Keith-Albee-Orpheum, and Film Booking Offices of America, and began operating as RKO Radio Pictures in 1929. A contemporary 1939 RKO publication describes the company's roots in the earlier film and theater organizations that ultimately came together to form RKO.
