Vintage Mexican Fantasia-style Divided Platter M1981
Vintage Mexican Fantasia divided serving platter in richly glazed terracotta red ceramic with hand-painted cobalt blue bird and floral motifs throughout. The oval form features segmented compartments and a decorative Greek key style border, blending traditional Mexican folk art craftsmanship with stylized pre-Columbian and “Aztec-inspired” design elements.
Produced in the Fantasia style associated with mid-century Mexican pottery from regions such as Tonalá and Tlaquepaque, this piece reflects the whimsical, highly decorative aesthetic that became popular in the 1930s–1950s. Fantasia ware is especially known for its imaginative birds, florals, and bold color combinations painted over warm red clay bodies.
The divided form makes it ideal as a serving tray, appetizer platter, or wall display piece. The hand-painted details and rustic glaze variation give it wonderful depth and character, with a strong Southwestern and folk art presence.
Overall very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with use and age. A striking and highly decorative example of vintage Mexican folk pottery.
