Custom Monterey-Style Painted Table Lamp L875

This table lamp was custom made for the Hotel El Roblar in Ojai, California, where matching examples were used in the guest rooms and lobby. This one is an extra from that run. It has the hand-built, Spanish Colonial Revival look of Monterey-style furniture, with a turned wood baluster stem, a crackled ochre finish, and red banding at the neck and collar. The octagonal base is hand painted with floral and leaf motifs in red, green, and gold. Three forged iron brackets brace the stem against the base, a nice blacksmith touch that gives the lamp real presence for its size.

The original rawhide-style shade is laced along the seam and rim with leather stitching and painted with a flowing teal and rose scroll border. The lamp has all new wiring and is ready to use.
