Wonderfully modeled on both sides it bears both dates on the front: May 9, 1926 and November 29, 1929. The artist was Julio Kilenyi (1885-1959), and the medal was struck by the Whitehead & Hoag company. It is accompanied ny Admiral Byrd's autograph.
The medal is 3 1/4" in diameter.
