Born in Michigan on March 24, 1887. Canright settled in Los Angeles in 1928 and worked as a freelance artist. In her leisure she painted still lifes and other subjects. In 1936-38 she exhibited as Bess Canright Doxsee. Late in life, she headed the art department at Whittier College. She died of heart failure at Riverside (CA) Hospital on May 1, 1958.
