This is a rustic Old Hickory bookcase, constructed with natural hickory sapling posts and plank shelving. The simple, handcrafted construction and rounded sapling uprights are characteristic of the distinctive rustic furniture tradition for which Old Hickory became famous. Date estimate 1930s to 1940s.

The bookcase has a wonderfully rustic, naturally aged appearance, with surface wear, scratches, discoloration, and expected signs of age and use throughout. The hickory sapling framework has the characteristic irregularity and natural form associated with Old Hickory's handcrafted construction.
