Aaron Hanin

Aaron. Hanin - Seated Female Nude with Classical Greek Plaster Horse's Head 1949 P2600

Regular price $750.00

We are definitely in an artist's studio, perhaps even at an art school, figure study class. We love the inclusion of the plaster equine head at the model's feet, a copy of one of the Elgin marbles, very much part of the equipment at a painting academy for the last two centuries, perhaps not so much today. Indeed it is a copy of the famous marble statue attributed to Pheidias from the East pediment of the Parthenon now in the British museum.

Oil on canvas, unframed, measuring  34" x 39 3/4" x 1". Some fraying and wear visible at the very edges.
