Mary Elizabeth Wortey (1922-1989) was born in Wenatchee, WA, and was mainly self-taught. She studied pastels with Doris Palmer. Her subject matter varied, but most often was landscape scenes, often of deep woods. She traveled the Pacific Northwest coast to find subject matter.
