Brügger AG - Original Vintage Travel Poster - Gersau in Switzerland at the Lake of Lucerne - Mountains & Dandelion & Lake - AP1784

Poster measures 25 1/8" x 40", linen backing is 27 1/8" x 42".

Arnold Brügger (1888-1975) was a Swiss painter and lithographer who had his printing workshop in Meiringen. This is not in his personal style so most probably not his design, but it is the product of his flourishing company and printing press. It is poetic, and deeply evocative of the Swiss landscape.

Gersau is in a self-contained location, nestled in a sunny recess in the lee of the south face of Rigi. Gersau is protected from cool winds by the Rigi-Hochfluh and Gersauerstock peaks to the north, and the winds are further moderated by Lake Lucerne to the south. This produces a mild climate in which Sweet Chestnut trees thrive, and as a result of which Gersau is known in the region as the Riviera of Lake Lucerne.
