Pencil notation in French notes that it is an original woodcut  by the artist ("bois gravé original JP Dubray"). Cut from a book it was illustrating.Measures 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".

Jean-Paul Dubray was a noted painter and prolific illustrator of French literature in the first half of the 20th century, particularly skilled in the art of the woodcut. Founded the magazine "La lithographie et le bois" (1906). Was the editor in chief of the periodical "Le livre et l'image".
