An outstanding and original Thonet large folding chair with footstool, crafted in Austria circa 1880s. This beautifully designed piece showcases the iconic elegance of Thonet’s bentwood craftsmanship, featuring a rich deep brown stained beech frame with gracefully curved lines and a refined silhouette. It can be seen on page 46 of the Thonet 1904 catalogue, attesting to its continued popularity as a design..

Both the chair and footstool retain their original canework, which remains completely intact with no major wear—an exceptional find for a piece of this age. The original hardware is still present and fully functional, allowing the chair to fold smoothly and securely.
