Original Exhibition Six-Sheet Poster for The Ring (1952) Starring Rita Moreno AP1357
A great period poster that packs a visual wallop, from a groundbreaking fifties film.
IMDB tells us: "A young American of Mexican descent in East Los Angeles, California uses the boxing ring to make a better life for himself and his family, and learns as much about being a Latino in a white society as he does about boxing." Shot on location in Los Angeles. Star Lalo Rios pioneered Mexican-American representation on the screen. And this scrappy progressive movie does have the young, the already great, Rita Moreno, starting to break out.
This six sheet poster is excellent condition, mounted on canvas and measures 80" x 81 1/2". Six sheet posters are extremely rare, usually pieced together from two or more overlapping sections in especially thick paper and delivered folded. Designed to be posted on smaller billboards. the studios stopped producing them in the 1970s.
