Rare. Measures 24" x 36", frame is 29 1/2" x 41".
Produced by an anonymous artist and dated May 14, 15, 21, 22, 25, 29, 30 (probably in 1938) and advertising a horse race at the public Hippodrome at Harbin, when it was an important center of the puppet state of Manchukuo, during Japan's occupation of China, presided over by its figurehead, the pathetic Last Emperor, Pu Yi, a dark chapter indeed.
