Harry Russell Ballinger (1892 - 1993)
He lived in New Hartford, Connecticut and Rockport, Massachusetts. He studied at the University of California, San Francisco; the Art Students League with Harvey Dunn; and the Academy Colarossi, Paris.
He was a member of the Allied Artists Association, Audubon Artists, American Watercolor Society; New Haven Paint and Clay, Kent Art Association.
His work was exhibited at the National Academy of Design; the Hartford Atheaneum, Connecticut Watercolor Society, Rockport Art Association, North Shore Art Association, Allied Artists Association.
Paintings are in the collections of the New Britain Museum of Art, Wadsworth Atheneum, Springfield Art Museum, Mattatuck Museum, Central Connecticut State College as well as many private collections.
Ballinger was an illustrator and author of many articles for national magazines. He was also author of Painting Surf & Sea (1966); Painting Boats & Harbors (1959); and Landscapes (1965).
