Hand-Painted Ceramic Chango Mezcalero, Mezcal Monkey M1972

Regular price $350.00

A charming hand-painted ceramic mezcal bottle in the form of a monkey, known as a Chango Mezcalero. Originating in Oaxaca between the 1930s and 1940s, these playful vessels were traditionally crafted to store and sell mezcal—the smoky agave spirit long beloved in Mexico.

This piece is part of a more recent revival of the chango mezcalero tradition, reflecting the renewed global interest in mezcal. Expertly made from traditional Oaxacan black clay and painted by hand, it features a soft matte finish and a warm, vintage patina. Each chango is unique, with distinct colors, expressions, and details that highlight the individuality of this enduring folk art form.
