The American genius for visual storytelling was nurtured and stimulated by the magazines: the influence of these artists is till felt today. And Matteson has a definite place in the pantheon of these stylish and observant pioneers. There are many examples of this prolific illustrator's work on the internet, but sadly almost no biographical information.
