A marvel of design and Jeffersonian ingenuity, executed flawlessly in solid mahogany. First acquired by the last owner in 1958, the wood used in its construction is old flame mahogany and there are no nails in its construction.
This early 19th century design is believed to have been the work of Thomas Jefferson. The original book stand is believed to have been built in the Monticello joinery based on Jefferson’s drawings, and was constructed of solid walnut, and has been copied lovingly ever since.
Its dimensions when closed are 12 1/2" high x 12 1/2" wide x 12 1/3" deep.
