Unsigned, and recently cleaned professionally, this is truly a magnificent example of marine painting, showing a ship's tender towing a barge in a choppy sea, as it steams away from a magnificent three-master rocking at anchor in the lee of a lighthouse on a bluff overlooking the harbor, under a stormy sky, a setting sun breaking through the clouds. A truly dramatic scene.
The canvas measures 20 1/4" x 30 1/4", and the frame is 22 1/2" x 32 1/2".
