A beautiful painting by a French WWII refugee of immense talent. Jacques Ronay came to the USA after fleeing France with his wife and soon to be famous photographer son Alain Ronay (known for having taken the last photos of Jim Morrison) and went to work for the studios as a set painter . I bought a number of pieces from Alain while he was still alive. Sadly his father's art studio burned to the ground with all his art in it in the early 1960's, so few of his works are to be found in circulation today. A huge pity, as this surviving work underscores.
