Stanley Edwards (1899-1981) - California Rock Formation - Oil on Board 1938
A fantastic work that bears the stamp of era that gave birth to the WPA and the recognition of American Regionalism. In some ways he shares a way of looking with O'Keefe and in others an approach to volumes that echoes Thomas Hart Benton. But his style is very much his own.
In its original frame, the board measures 23 1/2" x 27 1/2", the frame measuring 30 1/2" x 34 1/2"
