Castles in Spain, in spite of the song lyric that suggests they are merely the stuff of daydreams, did, and do exist. And, real as they are, they still inspire dreamers. And painters. We wish we knew the name of the Spanish master landscape painter of the 19th century. who created this evocative and elegant work of art.
Oil on Canvas. The impressive carved frame measures 40" x 51", canvas 30" x 41".
The stretchers identify the artist as British. This painting was acquired by the previous owner from the massive MGM auction of assets. The studios regularly bought art from many sources to dress their sets. We are delighted this one is now back in circulation.
