Original Poster for London Hippodrome Production of Box O' Tricks 1918
This entertainment has the distinction of being mentioned (and thoroughly panned) in Virginia Woolf's diaries, although she confessed to a grudging admiration for the show's star, Harry Tate, as a quintessential British entertainer. That said, the show was an enormous hit, enjoying a particularly long run of 625 performances. The First World War was raging and audiences needed to forget the horrors for a moment or two.
Framed, it measures 21" x 31", the poster is 19" x 29".
