As he states in the note on the back of this terrific painting, artist Leonard Kazor worked on repainting this replica of the HMS Bounty that had been built for the 1962 Marlon Brando film, when it returned to the West Coast. A macabre footnote: this very boat was lost during Hurricane Sandy, taking two lives with it as it went down, the captain, whose bad judgment sank it, and crew member Claudene Christian, who was a lineal descendant of the Fletcher Christian who led the famous mutiny and scuttled the original Bounty off Pitcairn Island where the mutineers settled.
