Mysterious. and downright ravishing, with echoes of Odilon Redon, Gustave Moreau and Rouault, but in an assured style all its own, unsigned, we confess this painting has truly cast a spell on us. Can’t stop looking at it. The great power of the female figure, anchored by the smaller inset framed picture of the Christ is rendered in a disciplined impasto. We would love to know a lot more about this artist. But for now the work speaks for itself. We are also fascinated by the line of spherical indents along the right edge. Original in every way.
